Common garter snake

Thamnophis sirtalis

 

This commonly found snake is found throughout all of the study area. it occurs in three colour forms, normal (black base with green stripes), orange ( green head or stripes can be light orange), black (checkerboard pattern probably a Heterozygous form of a sliver garter snake).

 

Redbelly snake

Storia oppimaculata oppimaculata

 

This snake is found in the area named "raspberry valley" under sheets of metal.

 

Eastern milksnake

Lampropeltis triangulum

 

This snake is found between raspberry valley and the large culvert. Two specimens have been found. This specie may be found in other areas of the study area but has not yet been found. This species could be mistaken for the northern water snake as the first specimen was

 

Northern water snake

Nerodia spiodon spiodon

 

This snake is found between the large pond at sarsaparilla and the large culvert. It has not been found in other areas but may be present.

 

Smooth green snake

Opheodyris vernalis

 

This snake has been seen in the study tree woods but not for a long time.

 

Dekay's snake

Storia dekai dekai

 

Known from a dead specimen found 40 years ago. May have been misidentified because of resemblance to redbelly.
